Botulinum toxins affect neuromuscular activity to treat recently formed
facial lines. We offer three of the most popular neuromodulators on the
market today. During your free initial consultation, we will explain the
differences between the three options and help you determine which will
provide optimum results for you based on your anatomy, medical history
and aesthetic goals.
Also known as injectable facial implants or wrinkle fillers, dermal fillers
use a variety of materials to create smoother and plumper facial skin,
correcting moderate to severe wrinkles and skin folds. Results last from
a few months up to two years depending on filler material.
Bruising is possible after these treatments. It is important to discontinue
use of fish oil, anti-inflammatories, St. John's Wort, Vitamin E,
gingko, ginger and garlic for at least
one week before treatment to decrease bruising and bleeding at injection sites.
Also consuming alcohol before or after treatment could impact its effectiveness.
Strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages
should be avoided within the first 24 hours following treatment. Patients
should also avoid lying down or bending forward for at least four hours
The most well-known neuromodulator, Botox has remained the most popular
non-surgical injectable rejuvenation treatment in the United States for
the last seven years. Derived from Botulinum Toxin Type A, Botox can safely
minimize the appearance of wrinkles by 80%. Visible results can take up
to two weeks and last between three and five months.
Also made from Botulinum Toxin Type A, Dysport is primarily used to treat
frown lines between eyebrows. Dysport's small molecules readily diffuse
through the muscles providing quick impact on facial rejuvenation - within
two to five days. It also has long staying power reducing the number of
treatments needed in a specific time period.
Used to reduce frown lines between eyebrows using another formula of Botulinum
Toxin Type A, Xeomin® does not contain additional additives, so it is less likely to cause adverse
allergic reactions. Patients are also less likely to develop resistance
to the injection's neurotoxins so additional treatments will continue
to be as effective as the original one. Results can often be seen within
a week with maximum results occurring around one month after treatment.
On average, results last about three months.
